The fortune of a city can be told by looking at its youngest generation. How is Houston faring in its efforts to protect and educate its children? This course will provide an overview of the state of Houston’s children and an inside look at Houston’s key nonprofits that are working to solve social concerns related to children. Designed for interested community members and the philanthropic community, this course will investigate issues affecting children from a social-investment viewpoint as well as through a prism of social solutions and hard data. Nonprofit and philanthropic leaders will present information on poverty and food insecurity, early education, the environment, mental health and juvenile justice, health, immigration and human trafficking.
