Houston Public School Rankings 2010

CHILDREN AT RISK and the Houston Chronicle have partnered for the fourth consecutive year to research and rank public schools in the eight counties of the Houston metro area. DeBakey High School for Health Professions tops the list as number one.

The organization’s High School Rankings Report is based on the evaluation of 140 public high schools in the eight counties of Greater Houston (Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller counties). Researchers based their methodology on 14 measures of performance to evaluate how well Houston public schools are preparing students for post-secondary success. Among them was the graduation rate, participation in advanced coursework, and performance on college entrance exams.
